The IUCN’s (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List is an
Lear’s macaw
indicator of the health of the biodiversity worldwide. Each species is categorized in
a different level of threat: least concern (LC), near threatened (NT), vulnerable (VU),
endangered (EN), critically endangered (CR), extinct in the wild (EW) and extinct (EX).
This classification contributes to species conservation and habitat protection.
The lear’s macaw is a marvelous and rare bird only found in Brazil.
Unfortunately, the lear’s macaw population is now classified as endangered (EN).
